LightStim LED Light Therapy
How Does LED Light Therapy Work?
LightStim is a safe, gentle and FDA cleared UV-light device. When used effectively, this device can provide noticeable improvements for those struggling with poor skin tone, texture and wrinkles. These conditions can be treated without adverse side effects. When used for acne treatment, LightStim has been shown to destroy bacteria, reduce inflammation and improve circulation without the dryness or irritation common with other acne treatments. The LightStim device works by emitting UV-free, beneficial light energy directly to the skin. Each product uses different wavelengths, or colors, of light. Depending on the device’s wavelength, it can treat acne and wrinkles. The secret to this technology is its LED light source and its ability to promote healing within the body.
What Does LightStim Treat?
The versatility of the device makes it adept at reducing and eliminating fine line and wrinkles, helping you regain your skin’s youthful appearance. Treating mild to moderate acne and calming existing breakouts is another benefit of the treatment. Additionally, the soothing energy emitted by this device provides relief from aches and pains by improving blood circulation.
LightStim will treat my Acne?
Believe it or not, light can be used in a variety of ways to improve the appearance of your skin. One of those ways is treating acne. Some types of light, particularly red light and blue light, are excellent at killing a certain strain of bacteria — P. acnes — that is partially responsible for acne outbreaks in some patients. If you’re looking for a cosmetic dermatology treatment to supplement another treatment that’s making progress on your acne, this is a good option to discuss with our acne specialists.

What to Expect During LightStim Treatment
LightStim sessions typically take 20 minutes. During this time, the rejuvenating wavelengths emitted by the LED lights will stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin.*
How Is The Treatment Carried Out?
In preparation for a light therapy treatment, all make-up and skin care products (including sunscreen) must be removed to allow penetration of beneficial light into the skin. As the light is very bright, we recommend the use of protective eye goggles for comfort purposes. With red light, goggles may be removed to treat the under-eye area; however, with infrared light, client goggles must be worn for the entire duration of the treatment.
How Does The Treatment Feel?
LED light therapy is a non-invasive and pain-free treatment that promotes a feeling of relaxation and well-being whilst rejuvenating the skin. Exposure to the light can increase serotonin levels, which in turn helps to relieve stress, tension, and headaches. Any feeling of ‘heat’ is most often due to the stimulation of blood circulation.
Are There Any Side Effects?
No. There is no risk of irritation, side effects, or down time that may be associated with more invasive procedures. There have been no reported side effects in over 1,700 clinical studies, and it does not harm the body in any way.
How Many Treatments Are Required?
An LED light treatment simply involves exposing the client’s skin to the beneficial light for 15 to 20 minutes. The number of treatments required can vary with skin type and condition. A single session is an ideal ‘pick me up’; however, a course of treatment is recommended for longer term results. As LED light therapy will not damage the skin, there is no limit to the amount of treatments that can be taken, and is an ideal all year round treatment.
